Sim – I actually was planning on including yours. But, then as I did more research, there were a lot of folks who had moved on to better things from being a VC, and I though including all of them didn’t make sense. Maybe it makes sense to have a “VCs who found real jobs” blog list. 🙂
Not sure if I’d fall into that list of former VCs who found real jobs seeing as how I don’t have a real job yet, but I do have a few things to say on my blog about what I learned while I was a VC!

Excellent Blog. David Esrati has a seminar called Websitetology on Web 2.0 where he shows how to become a force on Google. I was very interested to see that you took the time to get VC Blogs using this very technique.
David and I are working together to get a presentation ready which cleans up an environmental nightmare and uses green technology to accomplish the project.
Have been following you since Saturday and find your writing very insightful and real.

I was always under the impression that venturebeat.com was the most popular VC site.
Then I realized that may be because it is the only one I know of!
Venturebeat.com would sometimes grab my attention for a while, but never kept it.

Awesome job on this list 🙂 Do you have a OPML file? I would like to import the entire list into my Google WAVE rss feed (100 million times better than Google Reader).
I read about 30+ VC blogs on a daily basis as im very interested in learning about the next wave of internet business models. Mainly around subscription based business models (not freemium). I think VC’s will begin to create a more self sustaining model with their funds which will allow more projects to roll-out that create profits almost immediately.

Using Google Reader you have a few options-
1) Settings—> Folders and Tags
You can make a folder public assuming all the VC blogs are in a specific folder. Then you simply post the “view public page” URL on your blog here….
2) Settings—> Import/Export
You click “Export your subscriptions as an OPML file” and then post here.
*The coolest way would be to start a new Google Reader account and then import the OPML feed from your normal account. Then you can delete all the other folders and feeds not related to the VC Top feeds. Then you repeat the export process with only the VC feeds and post here on your blog.
I think the OPML file option would be super wonderful!
If you ever need a development/coding favor don’t hesitate to ask. I run a 27 person development team based out of Sanya, Hainan, China and I would be happy to hook you up since you are being so cool.

Thanks Scott. I checked it out and it looks pretty easy. I will set them up tomorrow, and I think I’ve got the OPML files figured out. Thanks for volunteering, but I should probably manage the feed so that as people come in and out of the Top 50 or other cuts that we make, I can just adjust the feed in real time. Look for it all tomorrow in one big post with all sorts of ways to subscribe.

First I’d like to say that this is a good list that you have created.
While I agree that maybe the perception of “Ranking doesn’t equate to quality of content”, you must give credence to the fact that great content and good interaction/discussion coming from VC bloggers is what makes people come back. I would believe that most of the VC’s who have a good following is simply due to the fact that they engage with the readers and respond to their comments and such. Bloggers who write a blog post for it to be a one-way “top of the soap box philosophical speech” are going to have very few subscribers/readers. The key here is that you need to engage with your audience and treat astute comments/criticism logically and be open to opposing view points as well.
Deepak, I agree with you as well. The most followed blogs have high quality content, but they are represented by folks who have been blogging for many years. I was just trying to make the point that there are some bloggers who lack longevity, but aren’t lacking in quality and are worth following.
I agree with you that a good blog should be a dialogue, not a monologue.

Angel investors invest as much money as VC funds each year. And they invest in about 27x more startups and early stage companies. So I think they are pretty important.

Its content seems to be focused on the intersection of investment advisors/high-net-worth investors and angel and VC investing. A different perspective that I have not seen elsewhere.

I started blogging about tech & startups in Silicon Valley 6-7 years ago (initially on a blogspot blog), started doing angel investing after I left PayPal in 2004 (~13 private deals thru 2008), then more recently started working on seed stage deals for Founders Fund in December 2008. While my blog represents my personal views and not those of Founders Fund, my primary topics are Internet startups and technology investing in Silicon Valley and beyond.
currently I blog at http://500hats.typepad.com and those who don’t find my blog NSFW would likely call me a VC blogger I guess… that or an irreverent moron. I resemble a bit of both. regardless I get ~10K readers / month, and guessing I’d make the top 50, possibly the top 25 (altho I don’t track Google Reader counts separately, according to QuantCast or Compete I think I’m in the top 20 according to your list).
